Tasha Straszewski, M.A., T.C.R.G.
Tasha Straszewski is the Director at Tamora. Irish dancing since age nine, she has placed well in many competitions at local, regional, national, and world levels. Tasha has placed top ten at the nationals, recalled at the World Championships, and won the Western U.S. Region Oireachtas for her age group in 2010. While still competing, she began helping as an assistant instructor in the beginner and intermediate classes at her previous studio. This continued for a total of six years of experience teaching dancers of all ages prior to starting Tamora. Her passion for dance radiates through every correction she makes on the dancers. The inspiration she provides helps them want to improve themselves and strive for greatness.
Outside of dance, Tasha has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a Minor in Dance Studies from Cal Poly Pomona as well as a Master of Arts in Social Psychology from Claremont Graduate University. She is an accomplished student, graduating with the highest academic honor of summa cum laude. She is continuing her education at Claremont Graduate University in pursuit of a Ph.D. in Basic and Applied Social Psychology. In addition to being hard-working, she is very family-oriented. This translates into how she runs her dance academy: the Tamora School of Irish Dance is a family unit.
Julia Straszewski, M.A., T.C.R.G.
Julia Straszewski has joined the Tamora School of Irish Dance as the newest TCRG and is now the Assistant Director of Tamora! Julia first started dancing at age of 4. Her dance background originally began with ballet and tap before she switched over to Irish dance at the age of 8. She has enjoyed travelling around the world for Irish dance. Julia has won several state competitions, has recalled at the national level, placed top ten at the All-Scotland’s, and has qualified for the world championships several times. She resided in Ireland for several months over the years to train and compete abroad prior to transitioning to her role as a co-instructor at the Tamora School of Irish Dance. Upon becoming certified to teach with the international Irish dance commission, she now teaches dancers of all ages and levels with Tasha. Her love of dance and her caring nature is inspiring and a motivational factor in class.
Outside of Irish dance, Julia is a High School Spanish Teacher and holds a teaching credential from Azusa Pacific University in Spanish, Science, and Business. She was inducted into Alpha Chi, an academic honors society membership offered to the top 10% of students in graduate school. She completed her Master's Degree in Education from Azusa Pacific University in May 2018. For her undergraduate degree, she graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in International Business and Marketing from Cal Poly Pomona and was awarded the Outstanding Business Student of the year for 2015-2016. Julia loves teaching and wishes to continue passing on the joys of Irish dance and academia onto the next generation.
